Mental health matters to us at Bristan Group. From supporting our teams throughout the pandemic to investing in Mental Health First Aid training, we’re committed to looking after our people.

In this blog, we share how we make workplace wellbeing a priority and our plans for World Mental Health Day on Sunday 10th October.

Mental Health First AidersMeet our Mental Health First Aiders

We’ve recently created a Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) Committee, a team dedicated to supporting our people and raising awareness around the importance of mental wellbeing.

After undergoing two days’ intensive training, the team are well-equipped to provide guidance and advice on mental health issues. In their role, they’ve been brilliant at offering helpful coffee and catch-up sessions, allowing employees to step away from their desks and chat through anything that’s on their mind.

Other wellbeing initiatives created by our dedicated committee include encouraging colleagues to undertake a LinkedIn Learning ‘Mindfulness’ course and cascading useful information across the teams, including our recent focus on combatting the new ‘bore-out’ phenomenon.

World Mental Health DayMarking World Mental Health Day

Most recently, the team has been busy organising this year’s World Mental Health Day activities. Ahead of Sunday 10th October, our MHFAs have launched a #MeMoment initiative, promoting employees to take an hour out for themselves and have some ‘me time’.

To make this happen, Bristan Group will be closing at 4pm on Friday 8th October, so team members can unwind and relax with whatever activity they like — whether that’s running, reading, cooking or meditation!

The MFHAs have also organised goodies from Mind, the UK’s leading mental health charity, which can be bought on the day to raise money for the organisation. Plus, the team will be available all day for drop-in chats.
Working Together

And it’s not just our dedicated committee making sure that we, as a business, mark World Mental Health Day properly; the rest of the teams have been getting involved too. For example, an employee's cousin will be creating several online yoga videos. Plus, the canteen staff will be donating cakes for teams to buy and enjoy with a fellow teammate, with all proceeds going to Mind charity.

As a business centred around our people, we’re proud to work together and make workplace wellbeing a top priority, always. #ForwardTogether
